The program "Kvarner – European Region of Gastronomy” was officially opened in Matulji with the Festival of Carnival Food.
The tourist boards of the Opatija Riviera – TZO Matulji, TZG Opatija, TZM Ičići, TZO Lovran, and TZO Mošćenička Draga – took part in the ceremonial opening of the program Kvarner – European Region of Gastronomy 2026, held as part of the Carnival Edition – Festival of Carnival Food in Matulji.
In the pleasant carnival atmosphere of the Villa Zaluki restaurant (Matulji), representatives of the Kvarner tourist boards gathered to present the richness of Kvarner gastronomy through traditional flavors, customs, and authentic local products.Kvarner has earned this important recognition – the title of European Region of Gastronomy 2026 – thanks to its exceptional diversity of local flavors, sustainable approach, strong connection between food and culture, and close cooperation among local communities.
By participating in this event, the Opatija Riviera was once again highlighted as a destination that cherishes tradition, authentic specialties, and togetherness through gastronomic events – from Matulji to Ičići, Lovran, and Opatija.
