In 2023, the tourist booklet of Ičići - Insights Into the Past was published, bringing together curiosities hidden within the walls of old villas, among the pines, and on the pebbles of one of the most beautiful beaches at the foot of Mount Učka.
The booklet attracted great interest not only from the local community but also from tourists – both those visiting Ičići for the first time and loyal guests who have been returning faithfully for decades.
So that the stories wouldn’t remain only words on paper, in 2024 the idea was born to bring them to life through guided walks trough Ičići.
The meeting point? The choice was clear – the place where it all began: Tivoli Park – Jardin Tivoli – the birthplace of hospitality in Ičići.
The time? May, when the days are pleasant and warm, and the sun’s rays shine a little longer.
A short reflection on the mysterious stone that silently hides its origin, a glance at the blue shutters of Robić’s former summer villa, the story of the old sanatorium where a new, modern chapter now rises, the ACI Marina where the peace of a small town meets the gateway to the open sea… These and many more tales were shared by our local guides with all who wished to discover Ičići in a different way, uncovering the hidden secrets of the place.
As time passed, our Insights Into the Past – like a fisherman’s net – caught many enthusiasts who whispered to us new stories from the town’s past, about people who wove their lives, their love, and their hearts into the harbor walls, the stone piers, and the verses of their songs…
In May 2025, the guided walks continued, but the story also moved onto an old wooden boat – a GAJETA. There, with the sound of the waves, the scent of salt in their hair, and the tramontana wind from Učka, guests had the chance to see Ičići from another perspective – from the sea.
Accompanied by an experienced boatman, a man of the sea and a true lover of Ičići, the Insights Into the Past sailed from Mali Raj to Villa Florida, sharing tales about the origins of the town.
After these wonderful guided walks and boat rides, this year’s Insights Into The Past ended with smiles and a shared wish among all present that this beautiful story continues, highlighting just how meaningful it is to discover Ičići in such a special way.
When you come to Ičići, you will never truly leave.
If not in body, then in soul.
