This Saturday, June 13, Ičići Beach will become a hub of sport, recreation, and outdoor entertainment.
Organized by the Gorovo Sports Recreation Club, with the support of the Ičići Tourist Board and the City of Opatija, the Sports Recreation Festival will bring together visitors of all ages for a day filled with exciting activities.
The event is part of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County – European Region of Sport 2026 project and will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Ičići Beach. Visitors can look forward to a variety of attractive activities, including a sailing school, a SUP regatta, and sports programmes for children.
For early risers, the day begins at 7:00 a.m. with a cruiser sailing school organized in cooperation with OpaSailing School & Cruise. Under the guidance of a professional skipper aboard a Feet 30 sailboat, participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics of sailing and spend two hours at sea at a promotional price.
Water sports enthusiasts can also take part in the 5th VOP SUP Regatta "Ičići Cup”, starting at 9:30 a.m. The competition will be held in several categories – FUN, RACE, and ELITE – depending on the length of the SUP board and the difficulty of the course. The children’s regatta starts at 11:00 a.m., while races for the remaining categories are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The awards ceremony and medal presentation will take place at 1:00 p.m.In addition to the competitive programme, visitors will be able to try stand-up paddleboarding free of charge from 10:00 a.m., with professional guidance and an introduction to the basics of this increasingly popular sport.
Special attention has been given to the youngest participants. Throughout the morning, a sports and recreation programme for preschool and younger school-age children will take place on the beach. Guided by professional animators and instructors, children will be able to enjoy a range of activities, including target shooting games, ring toss, archery, bocce, and a sports obstacle course.
The organizers invite everyone to spend their Saturday in Ičići, enjoying sport, recreation, and socializing by the sea.
